Los Angeles Dodgers - National League West

Dodger Stadium - home of the LA Dodgers

Opened April 10, 1962, Dodger Stadium is one of only two privately-funded stadiums built in the 20th century (Yankee Stadium being the other). The facility seats 56,000 and has parking for 16,000 vehicles on 21 terraced lots adjacent to the venue. The 300 acre site features over 3,400 trees spread across a beautiful landscape. The grounds are maintained all season long by a full-time staff of gardeners. The location of Dodger Stadium is ideal in that the downtown skyline resides to the south and the Elysian hills areas to the north and east. Therefore views outside of the ball park add to the experience of Chavez Ravine.

Dodger Stadium - Home of the Los Angeles Dodgers

To compete with other ball parks across the country, Dodger Stadium underwent some renovation between 1999 and 2000. Additional field level seats were added, suites were added on the Club Level to provide amenities available at other Major League stadiums, and a new scoreboard was installed by 2003.

A new grass field was installed at Dodger Stadium by the 1995 season for the first time since the venue's opening in 1962. The Prescription Athletic Turf implemented into the playing surface features 100,000 square feet of bermuda grass and a state-of-the-art drainage system. The turf has paid off and in 2003 a Sports Illustrated poll of Major League Players named the Dodger Stadium playing field the best of baseball.

Dodger Stadium has hosted over 115 million baseball fans in its 40+ year existance. The Los Angeles Dodgers regularly draw over 3 million fans per year. That distinction was first met in Major League Baseball by Chavez Ravine during the 1978 season with 3,347,854 fans. Dodger Stadium also partook in the baseball competition of the 1984 Summer Olympics. Additionally between 1962 and 1965, Dodger Stadium hosted the American League's Los Angeles Angels (now the Anaheim Angels) home games while Angel Field was constructed.

2004 Top Draft Pick
Lefthander Scott Elbert was Missouri's best high school running back and could play in the outfield, but his left arm is what scouting director
Logan White most prizes. Elbert struck out 17 in his first minor league start. He features a hard, sinking fastball in addition to a slider and changeup. The Dodgers drafted him 17th overall out of Seneca (MO) High School.

Just one winter ago, the Cardinals gave up on J.D. Drew ever developing into a star player. Now he is charged with replacing Adrian Beltre, who left the Dodgers to sign with Seattle. Drew has confidence, a sweet left-handed stroke, power to all fields and terrific strike-zone judgment. He also has a checkered history of injuries. With Beltre gone, Drew must become the main force in the Dodgers' lineup. The first challenge will be to remain healthy.
